Gijón Joint Tourist Board has renewed its agreement with the online travel agency Logitravel to maximize sales to Gijon in all Logitravel channels and the Spanish, Portuguese and French markets, key markets in the Tourism Action Plan of the city. The agreement with Logitravel meant in 2012 a 27% more of overnight stays in the destination Gijón and over 32 million advertising impacts.
This agreement reinforces the commitment of Gijón Tourism for the promotion and distribution through new media and the increase of investment in online channels. 27% of Spanish people purchase through Internet, 12.5% more than in 2010 and 50% more than in 2007, according to the ‘Electronic Commerce 2012’ study conducted by the Online Business School (OBS), with data from the INE (National Statistics Institute), Eurostat and the World Bank. In addition, the most purchased product in Spain online is related to travel: 52.9% of online shoppers have bought their holidays.
The agreement includes the marketing in the 1,500 agencies connected to the Traveltool system; insertions in National, Catalan and Galician print media, as well as banners in the Prisa Group digital media (El Pais, As and Cinco días) and those of Unidad Editorial (El Mundo, Expansion, Telva, Yo Donna and Marca)
Logitravel is one of the online travel agencies best positioned in the Spanish market, with a high percentage of annual growth and a growing commitment by the destination Gijón. It is present in six markets: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, France and Brazil . They have more than 4,800,000 registered users, are leaders in selling cruises online and the second most important online travel agency in Spain and Portugal.
